Golden State Warriors

Golden State WarriorsWhenever the NBA calendar comes out, I always circle the Warriors vs Hawks games as I love to watch Steph Curry and Trae Young go after it. Unfortunately, that won’t be the case in tonight’s game as Curry is still out with a bummed shoulder. Golden State could get a couple of players back though as Andre Wiggins, JaMychal Green and James Wiseman have all been upgraded to questionable following an illness.

The Warriors have slowly picked up their form without their MVP with 4 wins in a row, all at home. Their latest victim was the Portland Trail Blazers 118-112, Jordan Poole once again excelled with 41 points. He also got a ton of help from Klay Thompson who scored 31, including 7 threes. Warriors are a favorable 8-1 SU in their last 9 meetings with Atlanta, plus January has been a productive month for them last season as they’ve ended it with 6 wins in a row.

Atlanta Hawks

Atlanta HawksThe Hawks have been anything but productive in their last 9 visits to Golden State as they’ve won only once during that stretch. This isn’t a good moment for them at all after losing their 4th game in 5 outings. Last time out the Lakers put 130 points past them, the 2nd time in 3 games that an opponent had scored at least 129 on them. The good news is they finally might get Clint Capela and De’Andre Hunter back from injuries which would be a major boost for their depth.

They do have a solid record against the spread vs teams from the Pacific Division, having covered in 5 of their last 7 games. Against the Warriors they are 4-1 SU/ATS in the last 5 meetings, but most of those came back home in Atlanta. They enter tonight’s game as only 3 point underdogs, in that role this season they’ve won only 5 of 14 games.

At 16-2 the Warriors are clearly the best home team in the league this season. Over the past week or so they’ve taken down much better teams than the Hawks are at Chase Center, so I think their win streak continues here. Back Golden State to cover.

Golden State Warriors vs Atlanta Hawks Predictions & Odds

If there is anything we can count on in tonight’s game that will be scoring. The Hawks and Warriors are averaging 233 points per game in 3 most recent meetings, with the total going over in two of those games. Atlanta’s horrible performance on defense has caused 8 of their last 11 games to go over the total, including 4 of 5 vs Western Conference opponents.

Although the defending champions are missing Stephen Curry, they might get Andrew Wiggins back for tonight’s game which should take some pressure off of Poole and Thompson on offense. Against teams from the Eastern Conference, the total has cashed on the over 6 times in the last 7 games. Both teams have been trending upwards as far as scoring goes, so I think our best bet is to back the points in this one.
