Philadelphia 76ers

It’s a long list of injuries for the Philadelphia 76ers ahead of tonight’s game. Joel Embiid and Danny Green are both ruled out, while the likes of Tobias Harris and Seth Curry are both ‘day-to-day’ with hip and back injuries. That’s not a good sign when playing against any team, let alone what could be the best team in the league right now. The Sixers have just 3 wins against the Warriors in the last 16 meetings and just 2 wins in their last 9 visits to Oakland/San Francisco. Ever since Joel Embiid has been ruled out with covid-19, it has been Tyrese Maxey who has stepped up. Over his last 8 games he is averaging 24.3 points per game on 50% shooting from the field. One sign of hope for Sixers fans ahead of tonight’s game could be their form against Western Conference teams. They’ve covered in 6 of 7 such games this season and on the road in 10 games this season they are 7-3 ATS.

Golden State Warriors

At 15-2 the Warriors own the best record in the NBA right now and after a successful 4-game road trip which they ended with 3 wins and just 1 loss, they returned back home and beat the Toronto Raptors 119-104. Stephen Curry didn’t have the best of nights and finished with just 12 points on 2-for-10 shooting, but luckily for him two other teammates stepped up. Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins scored 33 and 32 points, making up for Curry’s off shooting night. The defense also got the job done holding the Raptors to just 39% shooting from the field. Golden State is now on an 8-game win streak at Chase Center and they’ve also covered the spread 7 times in their last 8 games overall. They’ll be without Andre Iguodala yet again as he continues to recover from a knee injury, but the good news is Gary Payton II could be back.

The Sixers do have 2 wins in 3 games, but that was against the shorthanded Nuggets and struggling Sacramento Kings. With so many players out, they have no chance tonight. Give me the Warriors to win by double digits here.

Warriors -10.5 Point Spread available at -110 odds on bet365

Even when Curry doesn’t perform, the Warriors are so loaded that they have two other players capable of scoring 30+ points on any given night, and oh yeah a 3rd one in Klay Thompson once he comes back. They rank 2nd only to the Utah Jazz in offensive rating while playing the 6th fastest pace in the league. Philadelphia also ranks high in offensive rating, they are just behind the Warriors with an offensive rating of 112.2. What separates the Warriors from others is their sharing of the ball. They lead the NBA right now with 70.8% of their baskets being assisted on, the next closest team are the San Antonio Spurs at 64%. Golden State ranks 2nd in points per game at home with 116, I just think they’ll score enough to push the over here, even if the 76ers struggle with scoring. Give me the over.
