Denver Nuggets

Denver NuggetsThe Nuggets wasted a lot of energy last night against the New Orleans Pelicans, but it paid off as they beat them 138-130 after overtime. Once again it was Nikola Jokic who stole the show with 46 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists, 30 of those points came in the 4th quarter and OT as he led his Nuggets to their 19th home win of the season.

Aaron Gordon provided much needed help with 28 points, as the Nuggets shot 54% from the field as a team. The win keeps pressure on the 5th seeded Dallas Mavericks who are now just 1 game ahead of Denver with less than 20 games to go.

Nuggets have covered the spread in 9 of their last 12 games, they are also on a run of 6 wins in 7 home games and overall they are 8-1 SU over their last 9 outings.

Golden State Warriors

Golden State WarriorsWho would have thought that the Golden State Warriors would go on a 1-6 SU run this late in the season? This team is badly missing their defensive anchor Draymond Green and to make matters worse ahead of tonight’s game they’ll also be without Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins as all 3 of them are going to sit this one out due to maintenance.

Golden State has covered the spread just once in 9 games vs Western Conference opponents, they are coming off a tough loss against the struggling Lakers, so you can imagine how badly they are playing right now if the Lakers are beating them. This team has covered in 7 of their last 10 against Denver, but without basically their entire starting line-up it’ll be tough here.

Despite the long game last night, I’m still going with Denver here. They’ve been consistent lately and with 10 wins in their last 12 games they are heavy favorites here. At home they are 19-11 SU this season, while the Warriors are 6-7 SU as underdogs. Go with the home team.

Denver Nuggets vs Golden State Warriors Predictions & Odds

Defensively the Warriors are probably the worst team in the NBA right now. Over their last 3 games all 3 opponents have scored more than 120 points against them, which is alarming if you are Steve Kerr.

Granted, all that should change once Draymond Green returns, but for tonight I’m not sure what to expect. They are resting most of their guys, so it’ll be interesting to see what type of play they opt for. The last time they rested all their guys it resulted in a high scoring game, so that’s likely the move here as well.

The last meeting vs Denver finished with 235 points scored, over the last 10 head-to-head these teams are averaging 224.3 points per game between them. The total has gone over in 5 games in a row on the road for Golden State and in 8 of their last 9 overall.

Denver’s home record reads 18-12 on the O/U, we could see some tired legs on defense after last night’s OT game against New Orleans. The Nuggets have also gone over the total in 4 of 5 games vs Pacific Division teams, so I think the safe bet here is to go with the points. Take the over.
