Nikola Jokic once again showed why he’s the frontrunner to win his 3rd MVP award, scoring 27 points, grabbing 12 rebounds and dishing out 8 assists. With the Mavs having very little defensive presence in the middle, we could be in for another big night for the Serbian big man. Denver has gone 19-1 SU in their last 20 home games, they are also 10-2 SU in their last 12 vs Western Conference teams.
Dallas Mavericks
Integrating Kyrie Irving into the system is proving to be a challenge for Dallas. After winning their first 2 games with him, they’ve now dropped their last 2 vs Sacramento and Minnesota, despite having both Doncic and Irving in the line-up. That was to be expected when you have two ball dominant guards, it always takes time for them to figure things out.
Playing the Nuggets might be just what they need here, in the last 5 meetings Dallas has won 4 of them and covered the spread as many times. At Ball Arena they are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 visits, however they’ll be heavily shorthanded here with the likes of Davis Bertans and Maxi Kleber being out, while Reggie Bullock, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Christian Wood all being questionable.
The Nuggets are a well oiled machine, they are probably winning this game, but 7 points does seem like a lot when you consider how close the games have been between these teams. I’ll be backing the Mavs to cover as road underdogs here.
