Portland Trail Blazers

Portland Trail BlazersFresh off of their 104-92 road victory at Houston, the Blazers now face a much tougher task in the Mile High City. And they’ll be without their best player Damian Lillard who suffered an abdominal injury in the game against the Rockets. I’m interested to see how their offense works without Lillard. We could hear a ton of whispers around certain NBA circles how the issue is in Dame and that he and his backcourt mate C.J. McCollum cannot co-exist. Right now the Blazers have the 6th best offensive rating in the entire NBA, they’ve just been unable to translate all that into winning basketball, especially on the road where they are only 1-6 this season. Against the Nuggets they only have 1 win in their last 5 meetings.

Denver Nuggets

Denver NuggetsThose Nuggets got their MVP Nikola Jokic back after he was suspended for a game for his altercation with Markieff Morris. The Serbian center was an instant impact in the first game returned and tallied a 22 point, 19 rebound, 10 assist triple-double in a 105-96 win over the Atlanta Hawks. It was Denver’s 6th home win in 7 games this season and their 4th straight at Ball Arena. They are doing it on the defensive end by holding teams just 98.2 points per game which is the lowest mark in basketball right now. At home that’s down even further to just 93.4 per game. On offense they are only 26th in the NBA in points per game, but as long as they can put the clamps on opposing teams they’ll be fine.

Nuggets have covered the spread in 5 of the last 7 games against teams from their division. Portland has been pretty bad on the road and tonight they are without their best player. It should really be a no-brainer to pick the Nuggets here. Let’s back Denver to cover.

Nuggets -4.0 Point Spread is available at -110 odds on bet365

The Houston Rockets, Miami Heat, Indiana Pacers and Atlanta Hawks all have something in common and that is – they’ve all failed to crack the 100-point mark in the last 4 games against the Denver Nuggets. Portland averages more points per game than 3 of those teams, so the Nuggets defense will get tested tonight, however I have confidence in them getting the job done as they have one less thing to worry about with Lillard being out. The under has cashed in the last 5 home games for Denver against teams with losing road records. They also hold teams to just 42.7% shooting from the field in their home games while playing the 2nd slowest pace in the entire league. Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr. will do their best to shut down C.J. McCollum. I just feel like this all will be too much for the Blazers, they won’t score enough to push us over the total. Give me the under for this game.
