After a pair of poor showings on the road, the Mavericks went back home where they feel most comfortable and beat the Portland Trail Blazers 117-112. Luka Doncic once again stuffed the stat sheet with 42 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. He also made an impressive 15 of 18 free throw attempts, as the Blazers tried to do everything they could to stop him.
In the end the Mavs improved to 6-1 at home, they currently have a 5-game win streak going there, however they’ve had issues covering the spread against the Clippers in their own building going just 1-4 ATS in the last 5 games. They’ll have to do without the services of Davis Bertans tonight as he sits out with a knee issue.
LA Clippers
LA is also facing a couple of injury issues of their own as John Wall and Kawhi Leonard are both likely to miss tonight’s game. They are coming off a 16-point road win at Houston, in which Wall didn’t play, so there might be a chance he suits up in the 2nd night of a back-to-back.
The Clippers are slowly getting used to life without Leonard, in total 6 players scored in double figures last night to beat the Rockets, while as a unit they shot over 50% from the field. A repeat of that performance would do them well against the Mavs who they’ve owned in the recent 9 meetings going 6-3 ATS/SU. LA is also on a run of 9 wins in their last 11 games vs Southwest Division opponents.
The Mavs are so much stronger at home than on the road, so despite the struggles in recent head-to-head meetings, I am siding with Dallas in this one. Doncic is putting up video game type numbers and nobody can stop him right now. Take the Mavs to cover here.

Playing Houston the night before and Dallas the next night is two completely different things. The Mavs rank 4th best in opponent points per game allowing just 107.2, while also playing at the slowest pace in the NBA averaging just 97.4 possessions per game. LA is also a bottom 10 team in the NBA in terms of pace, they also hold the 3rd best defensive efficiency allowing 105.8 points per 100 possessions.
It’s no surprise that these two teams are averaging just 212.1 points per game in the last 10 meetings. However the total has been set at a very modest 211 points, I have a feeling these teams will score a bit more than that, especially since the Clippers just played last night which could make them a little bit more relaxed on the defensive end.
