After a winless 3-game road trip, the Dallas Mavericks will be happy to finally return home where they are 8-3 this season. This team has shown two faces over the first month and a half, one that is very successful at home and the other which can’t seem to win a game on the road for some reason.
They are looking to end a 4-game losing streak tonight, it won’t be easy against a team that has owned them in recent head-to-head meetings. As a result of that Dallas is an underdog tonight according to the bookmakers, not something you see often in a home game for them. They are yet to win a game in 3 played in a similar scenario.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors are very similar to the Mavericks in the regard of playing well at home and then disappointing everyone on the road. They seem to be turning it around though. The defending champions have won 2 of their last 3 on the road and are on a 3-game win streak heading into tonight’s game.
They are back in a play-in tournament spot with a 11-10 record, I can see them climbing up the West standings even further in the coming months. Stephen Curry is showing no signs of slowing down, he is averaging 31.4 points per game on over 52% shooting which is just absurd even for him. As I mentioned earlier though, the Warriors have struggled covering the spread on the road going just 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games.
It’s a tricky game to predict, but I have to lean slightly towards the Mavs here, simply because of the home form they’ve been in all season. In 11 games they’ve lost just 3 times, while Golden State is 2-9 SU away from home. Take Luka and Dallas to cover.

Lowering the tempo will be one of the strategies the Mavs use here as they simply can’t afford to run with the offensively loaded Warriors. Golden State dropped 137 on the Timberwolves the other night, I’m expecting a much harder time for them on offensive in this game. Over the last 10 meetings they are averaging just 110.5 points, while the Mavs are at 108.6 per game.
Only once in the 4 meetings last season did the teams go over tonight’s projected total of 228 points. Dallas ranks dead last in the NBA in terms of pace averaging just 97.3 possessions per game. With the Warriors ranking only 14th in offensive efficiency on the road, they’ll have a hard time penetrating one of the toughest defensive teams in the NBA.
