The Nets suffered their 7th loss of the season against the Chicago Bulls at home over the weekend. Kevin Duran had 28 points and 10 boards, while James Harden was a big letdown with just 14 points on 5-for-21 shooting. Brooklyn has had it’s fair share of issues covering the spread, they’ve done so just once in their last 7 games. Losing a sharpshooter like Joe Harris for a couple of months is a big blow to their ambitions, especially when we know there is no end in sight with the whole Kyrie Irving drama. KD and co. turn their attention to Dallas tonight, a team they’ve beaten just once in their last 6 visits to the American Airlines Center.
Dallas Mavericks
Dallas is also struggling heavily with injuries at the moment, that has caused them to lose 4 of their last 5 games. Tonight they could be without Tim Hardaway Jr., Kristaps Porzingis, Willie Cauley-Stein and most importantly Luka Doncic. The Slovenian is battling a lingering ankle and knee injury which has caused him to miss several games earlier this season, without him the Mavs become the underdogs in almost every game and in that role they are just 1-7 SU on the season so far. They’ve also struggled when it comes to playing teams from the Eastern Conference going 0-5 ATS in their last 5 such games. Home form is also a worry for Jason Kidd and his men, this team is only 3-12 ATS in their last 15 home games.

The line has been set fairly high in this one, despite the possibility of Dallas playing without 2 of their top scorers. In their last 3 of 4 games the Mavs have scored just 90, 91 and 96 points and it is pretty clear they are not operating at their optimal level right now. The total has gone under in 10 of their last 13 games against Atlantic Division opponents and at home this season the O/U is just 3-7-1 in 11 games played. This is where things become interesting. Nets away games have been totally different, the over has landed in 5 straight, while they are 6-4 on the season in favor of the over. In their last 12 games the over has landed a total of 8 times. I would recommend waiting for the injury report to come out before placing any bets here. Assuming both Doncic and Porzingis play, which I think is reasonable since it’s a nationally televised game, I think we could see a higher scoring game here. Back the over.
