The Cavs suffered a heartbreaking loss at MSG in Game 4, but not because it was a close game, it’s because of their lack of effort on the offensive end. They finished under 100 points for the 3rd time in 4 games in this series, as Donovan Mitchell was completely shut down finishing the game with just 11 points on 5-for-18 from the field. Darius Garland was the only positive for the Cavs on that end of the floor scoring 23 points and dishing out 10 dimes.
As a team Cleveland finished with just 6 made threes from 23 attempts, they were also outrebounded 47-33 and had more turnovers. So what are their hopes for Game 5? I am not even sure there is enough determination on this team to turn things around. They looked defeated after the loss in Game 4, the body language just isn’t there at the moment.
New York Knicks
Sunday’s victory was huge for the Knicks, especially due to the fact that they didn’t get much from their best player Julius Randle and yet they still came out on top fairly easily. Carried by a loud crowd at MSG, the Knicks got 29 points from Jalen Brunson, 26 from RJ Barrett and an unexpected 19 and 7 rebounds from Josh Hart.
It was their 6th win in 7 games vs the Cavs, plus they’ve covered the spread in 6 of those games as well. They also have the best defensive rating in these playoffs so far, so I’m a bit surprised the oddsmakers have them as 5.5 point underdogs here. On the road in Cleveland they are 6-3 ATS in their last 9 visits, while winning their last 8 of 11 games overall.
The Knicks are in full control of this series and it’s only a matter of time when Julius Randle starts playing well. When that happens the Cavs are done, I wouldn’t be shocked if that was tonight. Give me the Knicks to cover the spread here.

All 4 games have gone under the total fairly easily so far, the projected total keeps going under and is now at a playoff low 202.5 points. Cleveland needs to get something going on offense here, playing at home should lift them up a bit, after all they did have their highest point total of this series at 107 points in their home gym in Game 2.
That won’t be easily achievable though. The last 6 of 7 meetings have all gone under the total, plus the Cavs are 6-0 on the under in their last 6 straight, plus the under has landed in 6 of their last 7 at home. This series has the 3rd slowest pace in the playoffs so far averaging just 93 possessions per game, so it would take a massive turn of events for us to all of a sudden get a high scoring game here. Until the over lands, I recommend sticking with the under.
