Golden State Warriors

Golden State WarriorsIn case we were wondering who the best team in the NBA is, it’s still the Golden State Warriors. After a tough 106-102 road loss at Charlotte, the Warriors quickly bounced back and beat one of the Eastern Conference contenders Brooklyn 117-99 on Tuesday. Stephen Curry had one of his signature games once again with 37 points and 9 three-pointers made, while Andrew Wiggins added 19 on 7-for-11 shooting. Golden State also managed to stop Kevin Durant holding him to just 19 points and 6-for-19 shooting, which was another big reason for their win. The win did come at a cost though as they lost Andre Iguodala who will miss tonight’s game with a hip injury. Stephen Curry is also listed as questionable with a hip problem, but knowing Steph he will do his best to be out there. The Warriors have owned the Cavs in recent head-to-head meetings, they’ve beaten them in 10 straight and have covered the spread in 8 of those games.

Cleveland Cavaliers

Cleveland CavaliersInjuries have caught up with the Cavaliers and they’ve now dropped two in a row against the Celtics and Brooklyn Nets last night. With Evan Mobley, Collin Sexton, Lauri Markkanen and Jarret Allen all out due to various injuries/illnesses, it was Ricky Rubio who stepped up and led the scoring with 25 points after being inserted into the starting line-up. Darius Garland followed him with 24 points, but it took him 26 shots from the field which isn’t really efficient. The Cavs are desperate to get some help, they simply have too many injured players out for a team that’s not really deep with their rotation. They’ve not covered the spread in their last 3 games and their 9-7 record to start the season is in jeopardy.

The Warriors have been dominant on both ends, even if Steph doesn’t suit up they should still have enough against the wounded Cavaliers. Golden State has covered in 7 of 8 against them and in their last 6 playing in Cleveland. I’m confident they will add to that tonight. Back the Warriors to cover here.

Warriors -8.5 Point Spread is available at -110 odds on bet365

We’re used to low scoring games from the Cavaliers this season, mainly because they are very thin and don’t have a lot of scoring options available. With the injuries to Mobley and Sexton, they are in big trouble. Ricky Rubio has been inserted into the starting line-up which now leaves their bench without a clear cut scoring threat. Cavs are averaging just 93.7 points over their last three games and the under has landed in their last 6 overall. For Golden State, the under has also been the trend in recent games played with 10 of their last 13 cashing in. The Warriors like to do it on the defensive end, their last 3 opponents have averaged 99.3 points. Looking at head-to-head meetings between the two teams, the last 2 of 3 games have gone under the total and the Cavaliers are barely shooting 41% from the field in those games. This should be a fairly easy win for Golden State on paper, I expect them to hold the Cavs under 100 points here, because of that I think backing the under is the way to go.
