I was surprised by the Bucks performance over the weekend as the Dallas Mavericks took them down in their own gym 118-112 behind a monster performance by Luka Doncic. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holiday had 28 and 20 points, while Bobby Portis added 17 off the bench, but that was pretty much it from the Bucks who allowed the Mavs to shoot over 51% from the field. That kind of effort on defense won’t get them far, so I’m expecting a change in approach for tonight’s game.
In 2 of the 3 games played vs Chicago this season they held them under 100 points, so it is pretty clear that this team is capable of shutting down opponents when they put in the effort. The Bucks have beaten their last 8 opponents from the Eastern Conference. They are also 9-4 ATS in their last 13 on the road, plus against the Bulls they’ve won 15 of 16 head-to-head.
All the stats are pointing to Milwaukee here, they need the win to move up to 2nd place in the East standings. Chicago has been far from convincing and I’m just not feeling them whenever they play a top tier team. Go with the road squad in this one.
