It’s been quite the downfall for the Chicago Bulls in the month of March, but they are still holding on to the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference, although not by much. The Toronto Raptors have just tied them at 44-32, so a win here is critical for the Bulls to maintain hope of finishing in the top 4. They are finally returning home after a 5-game road trip which ended with a 2-3 record.
At the United Center they’ve gone 26-10 SU this season and have covered the spread in 24 of those 36 games. However, they are facing a Clippers team against who they’ve won just two games in the last 10 meetings, although one of those wins was earlier this season.
A lot has changed since though and the Bulls are just 4-12 ATS in their last 16 games. Against Western Conference opponents they’ve not covered the spread in 5 games in a row.
Los Angeles Clippers
Paul George returning from injury is the single best thing that has happened to the Clippers this season. He was an instant impact in the comeback win over the Utah Jazz with 34 points, as the Clippers came back from being down as much as 25-points in that game.
This team now has the potential to be a serious threat in the Western Conference, if Kawhi Leonard somehow comes back as well they could be a problem for one of the top 2 seeds. The Clippers are pretty much set to finish in the 8th seed, so there isn’t a lot of incentive on their end to win here.
Still, with PG back they are going to need to develop some chemistry with him so I expect a serious approach to tonight’s game. LA is 9-2 SU in the last 11 meetings with the Bulls and in their last 11 visits to the United Center they’ve won 9 times.
Chicago did win the 1st meeting played in LA by 10 points so I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt here as well. They need the win a lot more than the Clippers do, so the sense of urgency is a lot higher and that should give them the edge here, plus the home crowd. Back Chicago to cover.
Chicago Bulls vs Los Angeles Clippers Predictions & Odds
I’m expecting a completely different approach from both teams compared to the 1st meeting of the season which produced just 190 points. The total for the Clippers has gone over in 4 of their last 6 games, including 4 of their last 5 vs Central Division teams. If we look at head-to-head meetings with the Bulls then the total has gone over in 4 of the last 5 between them and the last 3 games have averaged 226 points per game and that number would have been a lot higher if it wasn’t for that low scoring game at Crypto.com Arena from earlier this season.
PG13 coming back gives the Clippers another weapon offensively, they will be hard to stop moving forward, especially if Dwight Powell and/or Kawhi Leonard return to the line-up. Chicago is also very solid on offense this season, they are a top 10 team when it comes to offensive efficiency, with a healthy Zach LaVine back in the mix they should put up a solid amount on the Clippers here. Bulls are ranked only 20th in the NBA in defensive efficiency, so all in all this should be a high scoring affair. Let’s back to the points.
