The Kyrie Irving saga has finally come to an end as the Nets have successfully traded him to the Dallas Mavericks for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith and draft picks. Irving was already out of the line-up in their last game against Washington, the team responded well playing without him and won 125-123 thanks to a big night from Cam Thomas who dropped 44 points off the bench.
With Durant and Simmons also out of the line-up, the Nets are basically relying on lesser known players to win games. As a result of that they enter tonight’s game as 6.5 point underdogs vs a Clippers team they beat 110-95 back in mid-November. It’s unclear if Dinwiddie and Finney-Smith will make their debuts tonight, but even without them the Nets have a 9-3 ATS edge against Western Conference teams in their last 12 games.
Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers got 35 points from Kawhi Leonard, 30 from Paul George and 24 from Norman Powell off the bench as they pulled out a huge win at Madison Square Garden against the Knicks. The game went to overtime, so I’m interested to see if that has any effect on this team. Both Kawhi and George played over 40 minutes, which could mean one of them, or even both get rested here, so I would advise caution before making any bets on this game.
LA is in a good groove right now having won 7 of 9 games, they’ve also covered the spread in 6 of 7 games on the road. However, in head-to-head meetings vs Brooklyn they are just 1-6 ATS in the last 7 played and have only 1 win in the last 6 meetings.
Even with all that’s happened around the Nets these days, it’s hard for me to imagine they’ll let their guard down easily. This is a feisty team, regardless of who steps out there on the court, I’m expecting them to show a lot of resilience here, so let’s back them to cover in front of the home fans.

It’s a different situation now, they just dropped 134 points in the win at MSG against the Knicks and vs a not-so-talented defense in Brooklyn they should have a big scoring night.
