The 1-5 Nets are in trouble and we’re not even in November yet. After their last game which was a 125-116 defeat against Indiana at home, the team held a players only meeting to discuss how they can improve on what has been a disastrous start to their season. Head coach Steve Nash could be in jeopardy if they don’t turn things around soon, tonight’s game is a perfect opportunity to get revenge against the Pacers who just beat the Nets in their own arena.
Despite the loss there were some positives to take away for the Nets who finally got Seth Curry back into the line-up following an ankle injury which caused him to miss the start of the season. Kyrie Irving had yet another brilliant performance with 37 points, but with Kevin Durant struggling shooting the ball the Nets won’t be in a position to win many games this season.
Indiana Pacers
Indiana is actually above the Nets in the standings as they hold 11th place in the East with a 3-4 record. The win on Saturday was their 2nd in a row and tonight they conclude a mini 5-game road trip on the East coast. Rookie Benedict Mathurin led the scoring with 32 points in the win over Brooklyn, while Tyrese Haliburton added 26 of his own. The most impressive stat from that win was Indiana’s shooting from three as they knocked down 23 of 46 attempts from beyond-the-arc.
They’ll be hard to beat if they can repeat that performance tonight, but the question is are they capable of doing so? They currently rank 8th in the NBA in three-point efficiency connecting on 38.8% of their shots from distance, so it’s been a promising start to the year. Optimism isn’t lacking ahead of tonight’s game either as they are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games on the road in Brooklyn.
Brooklyn’s struggles are well documented this season, despite them the oddsmakers still have them favored by 8.5 points here, I’m not sure if that’s realistic. Indiana just beat them by 9 points, I think the Pacers can keep this game close once again so let’s back them to cover here.

It’s been very entertaining to watch both the Pacers and the Nets if you are one of those NBA fans that enjoys offense. The Pacers currently score the 2nd most points per game in the entire NBA averaging 118.9 a night, while the Nets are at 113.5 per game. So it’s no wonder that Brooklyn is 5-2 in their last 7 games on the Over, while the Pacers have gone over in 11 of their last 14 overall, plus in 12 of their last 16 vs Eastern Conference teams.

An average of 240.3 points were scored in those 3 games and with the way both defenses have been playing this season I can’t see why we won’t see another one of those games tonight. Brooklyn is dead last on defense allowing 122.2 points per game this season, the Pacers are at 121.5 per game which means both teams rank in the bottom 5 of the NBA in points allowed.
