Brooklyn Nets vs Cleveland Cavaliers betting tips and predictions for Tuesday’s NBA play-in game. The Brooklyn Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers face off for the 5th time this season and the winner takes home the number 7 seed tonight. Read on for all our free predictions and betting tips.
From a chaotic season filled with a lot of uncertainties to be on the verge of getting the number 7 seed in their Conference. That’s the Brooklyn Nets, in a nutshell, this year. They have an opportunity to choose between facing Miami and Boston in the 1st round and I think they are going for Boston simply because of the Robert Williams injury which makes their life a lot easier. But, in order to play them they have to take care of business against the Cavaliers one more time.
They’ve beaten them in 3 of the 4 meetings this season and the last time they played them was actually last Friday in a 118-107 home win. The Cavs led for a decent portion of that game, but having KD and Kyrie proved to be too much to handle. Although they are just 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games, I think the Nets have a really good chance to cover in front of their home fans.
Cleveland’s season has been going in the wrong direction for quite some time now and that’s mainly because of injuries. Center Jarrett Allen, who is a vital part of their inside defence, has been ruled out for tonight’s game which is a big blow for the Cavs’ chances here.
Without him they were just 8-16 SU in the regular season and in their last 7 road games they’ve covered just once, which is very uncharacteristic for a team that’s been very reliable prior to his injury. They’ve won just 3 of 11 games and tonight their hopes will lie on Darius Garland who is the team’s leading scorer. He had 31 in the last game at Barclays Center in 41 minutes of play, but it’s hard to win when you get outrebounded by 14 on the road. Cavs have covered in just 3 of their last 10 games vs Eastern Conference teams.
Brooklyn is going all in here. Facing the Celtics instead of the Heat is a must and I expect both Durant and Irving to be on top of their game. The Cavaliers’ hopes of making the playoffs will be in the 2nd play-in game vs the winner of Hawks vs Hornets. Take the home team here.
Brooklyn Nets vs Cleveland Cavaliers Predictions & Odds
The projected total has been set at 229.5 points here, that number has been surpassed in neither of the 4 meetings played in the regular season. Just a few days ago these 2 teams combined for 225 points in the same arena where they are playing tonight. Brooklyn went 18-23 on the O/U in that arena this season, they’ve also tended towards the under in 5 of their last 6 games and in 4 of 5 vs Eastern Conference teams.
Cleveland has done the same going under the total in 7 of their last 10 vs Atlantic Division teams. At this stage of the season, stakes are very high, so I’m expecting both teams to slow things down a bit as things can get out of control very easily and that’s not something you want to see with your season on the line. Cleveland plays only the 26th fastest pace in the NBA, in order for them to have a chance at winning here, they’ll have to play at their own pace and try to slow down the offensive juggernaut in Brooklyn. With an average of 225 points scored in the 3 most recent meetings, I think backing the under is the way to go here.
