Brooklyn Nets

Brooklyn NetsThe Nets have had 3 days of rest following their win over Portland at home on Thursday, it was their 5th win in 6 games overall and the 4th time they were able to cover the spread in their last 6 games.

Playing at home means no Kyrie Irving once again, joining him on the sidelines will be LaMarcus Aldridge who is out indefinitely with a hip injury. It is also looking less and less likely that Ben Simmons will suit up for them this season, his back injury isn’t getting any better and Brooklyn might opt to shut him down for the rest of the season.

Kevin Durant is ready to go though, the top 3 seeds in the East won’t be happy if they match up with the Nets. Brooklyn currently sits in 8th place in the East and will enter the play-in tournament if that doesn’t change in the next 11 games.

Utah Jazz

Utah JazzThe Jazz don’t have such issues, they are almost certain to finish 4th in the West as the 3rd seeded Warriors and 5th seeded Mavericks are 2 games in front of them and behind them.

This team is on a 3-game win streak despite dealing with a handful of injuries to several key players. Both Bojan Bogdanovic and Mike Conley didn’t play in the win over the Knicks, they’ve been upgraded to questionable here and will most likely play for Quin Snyder.

The Jazz could definitely use them, they’ve had a solid record in head-to-head meetings with the Nets beating them in 6 of the last 7 and also covering the spread in 5 of the last 7 visits to Brooklyn. Donovan Mitchell stood out in the win over New York last night with 36 points, he also drained 7 threes so the Nets could have big issues containing him tonight.

Whenever you have a player like Kevin Durant on your side, you are always within a chance of winning. However, I wouldn’t underestimate the Jazz who have been consistent all season long, dealing with a lot of injuries. Let’s back them to get the job done on the road here.

Brooklyn Nets vs Utah Jazz Predictions & Odds

The total for the Jazz has gone under in 7 of their last 8 games vs Eastern Conference teams and they’ve also gone under in 8 of their last 10 overall. They are notorious for going under the total in road games, their record stands at 14-19-1 for the season on the O/U, just last night they held the Knicks to only 93 points.

Obviously, the Nets are a different animal when it comes to scoring and Utah probably won’t have an answer for Kevin Durant, but other than him there’s really no offensive threat that the Jazz won’t be able to deal with. Kyrie Irving not playing makes their life so much more easier, so I think there’s a good chance we see a lower scoring game here.

Brooklyn is averaging only 105.1 points per game in the last 10 meetings with Utah, 2 of the 3 most recent meetings have gone under the total with just 219.6 points per game being scored. That’s almost 10 points less than the projected total for tonight’s game, so I think backing the under is the way to go here.
