Philadelphia 76ers

Philadelphia 76ers 1Looks like getting back Joel Embiid hasn’t solved the Philadelphia 76ers’ problems. Embiid returned to the line-up against the Miami Heat last night and had a solid game with 17 points and 14 rebounds, but the 76ers fell short and lost by 5 points at home, despite being without their two best players Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. Tyrese Maxey scored 27 for the Sixers on 11-for-15 shooting, while Tobias Harris added 24, but that was pretty much it as only those 3 players contributed in the loss. Sixers are now just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games and only 2-4 ATS in their last 6 on the road. They do have a solid record in head-to-head meetings with 7 wins in the last 10, but all that means nothing if the effort isn’t going to be there like last night.

Brooklyn Nets

Brooklyn NetsSpeaking of effort, the Nets have been getting all of it from Kevin Durant lately as the team is currently without 7 players due to health and safety protocols. KD took this team on his back and delivered in the last two games. Against the Pistons he dropped an NBA season high 51 points and then followed it up with a 34 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assist stat line in the 2-point overtime win over the Raptors at home. Patty Mills also chipped in with 30 points for the shorthanded Nets who had only 8 players suit up. A similar situation will be in tonight’s game against the Sixers, so I’m curious to see if they are able to cope. Nets have had their issues covering at home, right now they are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 at Barclays Center.

Having so many players out will catch up with the Nets eventually, but they still have a healthy Kevin Durant who is playing on an MVP level. Tonight they are just 1 point favorites at home and after what I saw in the Heat vs Sixers game last night, there is no way I’m backing Philly here. Give me the home team to cover.

Brooklyn is on fire right now offensively, they are getting monster production from Kevin Durant who has embraced the role of their savior with so many players being out. I’m expecting another big time performance from him tonight, in his previous game vs Philly he had 29 points, 15 boards and 12 dimes. These two teams are averaging 223.3 points per game in their last 10 meetings and a whopping 231.6 points in their 3 most recent ones. In games played at Barclays Center the over has cashed 4 times in the last 6, so things are looking bright here. I’m expecting a better performance from Joel Embiid here as well, he had a modest 17 points by his standards last night. Brooklyn is short on the inside with so many players not playing, the big man will know how to take advantage of this. They do play the 7th fastest pace in the NBA and playing small ball should result in an even faster pace here, so let’s back the over.
