Boston Celtics
Boston had a 3-game win streak snapped in Philadelphia last night as they fell short 111-99. As a result they are now under .500 again, but thankfully they return home for this one where they’ve won 13 of 21 games this season. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum both had solid games of 21 and 20 points, however a slow start in the 1st quarter where they scored just 14 points and fell behind by 18 cost them the game.
Joel Embiid was also just too much to handle for them, Chicago doesn’t have such a dominant force on the inside so it’ll be interesting to see how the Celtics fare in this one. They’ve done well against Chicago in home games recently covering in 5 of their last 7. In their last 5 at the TD Garden the Celtics are 4-1. There’s also a good chance they might get Marcus Smart back from quarantine here, so they’ll have a clean slate injury wise as well.
Chicago Bulls
The best team in the East has lost the last 2 games at home by 26 and 42 points, but more importantly they might have lost Zach LaVine for an extended period of time as he came down with a knee injury last night vs Golden State. The extent of the injury is unknown at the moment, but Bulls fans are fearing the worst. Nevertheless, they’ll have to try and gut this one out without their 2nd best player.
DeMar DeRozan will have to step up, he hasn’t been playing up to his standards lately, without his production this team automatically becomes average. The Bulls are also without Alex Caruso who has a foot problem, there’s still no timetable set for his return. They’ve covered just twice in their last 9 games and against the Celtics they are only 5-12 SU/ATS in the last 17 meetings.
I have to go with Boston here, they are playing at home and Chicago just lost LaVine to a knee injury. Until the Bulls bounce back from these 2 large defeats, I have lost faith in them. Celtics are also 13-7 SU in their last 20 games when playing as the favorites, fingers crossed they get the job done tonight.

This Bulls defense has gone on vacation over the past 2 games allowing 138 points against the Brooklyn Nets and Golden State Warriors. That kind of effort simply isn’t going to cut it, the Celtics are more than capable of taking advantage of that. The total has gone over in 5 of the last 7 games vs Eastern Conference teams, plus in 4 of their last 5 played on a Saturday. The last 10 meetings have averaged 217.1 points per game, which is slightly under the total set here, but with the way the Bulls defense has been leaky lately I’m confident we’ll surpass that. Both Tatum and Brown are in good form offensively, with LaVine going out with an injury the Bulls won’t have the defensive stoppers to slow them down. Chicago also ranks 2nd in offensive efficiency this season, while the Celtics are 16th. I think we’ll see a solid output by both teams in tonight game, go with the points.
