After connecting 5 wins in a row last week, the Toronto Raptors have hit a bit of a road bump as they dropped two in a row against the Cavaliers and Nets. There is really no shame in losing against Brooklyn, they simply didn’t have an answer for Kevin Durant and James Harden. Now though, they turn their heads to a team they’ve already beaten this season 115-83 on the road. One key difference for tonight’s game will be the availability of Pascal Siakam who is finally back into the line-up. It’ll be interesting to see how they implement him back into the offense and how will it affect players like OG Anunoby who is having a career-year averaging 20.2 points per game. Toronto is undefeated on the road at 4-0 this season, they’ve also covered the spread in 4 of their last 5 in Boston.
Boston Celtics
With no home wins to their name and it’s almost mid-November, the Boston Celtics are off to one of their slower starts to a season in recent memory. In their last 10 games at the TD Garden they’ve covered the spread just twice. They did just finish a 3-game road trip with a 2-1 record, but they wrapped it up with a 107-104 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on a last second three-pointer by Luka Doncic. Losses like that have really hurt the Celtics, they’ve already dropped 3 games by 4 points or less this season. Rumors have already started circulating of a possible Jaylen Brown trade for Ben Simmons, but that remains up in the air as there are no concrete moves from either side. Brown is bothered with a hamstring injury and will most likely sit this one out.
Toronto dominated the C’s in the earlier meeting this season holding them to just 39% shooting and forced them to cough the ball over 25 times. They’ve been really good on the road this season and I’m having a hard time trusting the Celtics here, especially if their 2nd best player isn’t able to go. Give me the Raptors to win on the road.

Defense has been Toronto’s calling card this season. They boast a top 10 best defensive rating in the NBA and allow just 105.7 points per 100 possessions. This is a direct result of the pace of play they’ve been playing this season. Right now they average just 99 possessions per game and only the Philadelphia 76ers average less in the entire NBA. Boston isn’t far behind either in pace. Jayson Tatum has had games in which he struggled a lot and without his backcourt mate Brown, the entire attention of the Raptors defense will be on him tonight. The Celtics average the 9th most shots from downtown, you’d think that would be a good thing but when you’re averaging just the 20th best percentage of makes in the entire league that becomes a major issue. The total has gone under in 8 of their last 12 games against Atlantic Division teams, I’m expecting more of the same tonight.
