Joel Embiid is finally back the 76ers are waking up. In his first game back vs Minnesota he dropped 42 points and showed no signs of fatigue. However, against the Magic in the following game he finished with just 16 points on 4-for-16 shooting. Luckily for him Seth Curry stepped up with 24 points and Tobias Harris added 17 and the Sixers are back on the winning track with their 11th win of the season. Tonight’s game will be a tough one though, they’ve split the last 10 games with the Celtics, but when playing at the TD Garden the 76ers have just 3 wins in their last 18 games. This team is finally healthy and is ready to make a run. The only player missing from the rotation is Ben Simmons, but his status has been unknown for a while and we probably will never see him play another game in Philadelphia.
Boston Celtics
Unlike the Sixers, Boston is hampered with injuries at the moment. Dennis Schroder is out with an ankle injury, although his status has been updated to ‘probable’ ahead of tonight’s game. Jaylen Brown is questionable as the team doctors are considering resting him because he just came back from a long layoff with a hamstring injury and Robin Williams is questionable with an illness. Because of these issues, the Celtics have won just 1 of their last 3 games, but they are coming off a 109-97 road win at Toronto. Jayson Tatum had one of his worst performance of the year with just 8 points, but the 4 other starters stepped up with Marcus Smart leading the way with 21 points. Boston is 5-1 SU in their last 6 home games, however they have been struggling covering the spread vs teams from their own division. They are just 5-15 ATS in their last 20 such games.
Tatum is out of form at the moment, this entire season he hasn’t been himself. Philly finally has Embiid back, I don’t think this Boston team will have a counter for him.
