Milwaukee took care of business on the road this weekend by beating the New York Knicks 112-97 in the early tip-off on Sunday. Khris Middleton had 24 points to lead the way, with a total of 7 Bucks players scoring in double figures. As a team they shot 47% from the field and assisted on 27 of their baskets. Giannis Antetokounmpo had a triple-double with 20, 10 boards and 11 dimes, just a game after scoring 41 on the Houston Rockets. The Bucks have a ton of momentum on their side, they’ve won 12 of their last 14 games and are slowly climbing the standings in the East. Tonight’s game will be a big test for them as they haven’t really done well against the spread in road games at Boston covering just once in the last 7 games there.
Boston Celtics
With just 1 win on their 5 game West coast road trip, the Celtics have dropped all the way down to 10th in the East standings. They have a brutal schedule coming up, but at least they are returning home where they’ve won 6 of their last 7 games. The big question ahead of tonight’s game has to be the status of star shooting guard Jaylen Brown who has had issues with his hamstring during the road trip. His status has been upgraded to probable, the Cs will definitely need him if they want to get something out of tonight’s game. Boston has covered just 3 times in their last 9 games, they are coming off a 21 point loss to the Phoenix Suns. Jayson Tatum was the lone bright spot in that game with 24 points, but it took him 25 shots to get to that. As a team the Celtics shot just 4-for-26 from three-point land and 37% overall from the field, that simply will not cut it in today’s NBA.
Right now the Bucks are a much better team, so I’m not sure why they are the underdogs coming into tonight’s game. Either way, I think with Giannis, Middleton and Holiday all being in top form will decide the outcome of this game.
