Atlanta Hawks vs Phoenix Suns Predictions

Atlanta Hawks vs Phoenix Suns betting tips and predictions for Saturday’s NBA clash. The Hawks look to end a 2-game losing streak as they travel West to take on the Phoenix Suns. Read on for all our free predictions and betting tips.

It was a disappointing game against the Utah Jazz two nights ago as the Hawks fell 116-98 in their own gym. To make matters worse the Jazz were playing without their best player Donovan Mitchell and yet Atlanta just could not take advantage of that. They didn’t have an answer for Jordan Clarkson who dropped 30 points on them. Four Hawks scored double-digit points in that game, but it didn’t help.

Trae Young has had a modest start to the season averaging just 40% shooting from the field, that has to go up if he wants us to take him and his team seriously. Atlanta doesn’t do well in the underdog role, they’ve failed to cover the spread in their last 4 games. Playing on the road has also been an issues, they are 0-7 ATS in their last 7 such games.

Atlanta Hawks vs Phoenix Suns odds

It’s been a turbulent few days in Phoenix and I expect that to be the case for the next several weeks if not months. The situation surrounding their owner is still up in the air and I’m curious to see how the team reacts to that. So far they haven’t had the best of starts to the season going only 4-3 in 7 games.

They do have a positive record at home though and have won 3 straight against Cleveland, New Orleans and Houston. They could be without Cameron Payne here, he is dealing with a hamstring issue and is questionable according to the medical staff. The Suns have performed well after blowout wins, they’ve gone 8-1-1 ATS in their last 10 games following a 10+ point win. Against teams with losing road records they’ve covered the spread 7 times in 9 such games.

This Hawks teams remained mostly the same to the one that made the Eastern Conference finals last season, however it has to be said that was an overachievement and their current start to the season is more realistic when you look at their roster. Trae Young still has to figure stuff out and until he does I don’t see them beating teams like Phoenix away from home. Go with the Suns in this one.

Suns -4.5 Point Spread available at 10/11 odds at bet365!

The total has been set to 221.5 points heading into this one, that’s mainly because the Atlanta Hawks defense has been brutal their past 5 games. They’ve given up an average of 117.6 points per game and the over has landed 4 times in their last 6 games against teams from the Pacific Division. Phoenix also hasn’t been that spectacular on that end of the floor, they give up 109.4 points per game and really like to push the pace.

They currently rank 10th in the NBA averaging 103.1 possessions per 48 minutes. Both teams are also in the Top 10 in offensive efficiency, so it wouldn’t surprise me if we saw a high scoring game here. Add to that that the total has gone over in 4 of their last meetings I think we’re in for a fun high scoring game here. Go with the over.
