Atlanta Hawks

Atlanta HawksAfter exchanging wins and losses for the past 5 games, the Atlanta Hawks remain in 10th place in the Eastern Conference. With the New York Knicks being 5 games back in 11th and just 9 games remaining, it is safe to say we will see the Hawks in the play-in tournament.

As it stands they would battle Charlotte on the road in the 1st game, which isn’t ideal, so they’ll have to figure out how to leap over them in the remaining two weeks of the regular season. Winning tonight would be a good start, they’ve won 7 of their last 8 games at home and with a 23-14 SU record at State Farm Arena they are one of the more successful teams at home this season.

However, against the Warriors they are only 3-7 SU in the last 10 meetings, so things could get tricky here.

Golden State Warriors

Golden State WarriorsGolden State is still without Stephen Curry who is recovering from an ankle injury. They opted to rest Klay Thompson and Draymond Green in their last game and surprisingly they beat the Miami Heat on the road by 14-points with mainly their reserves playing.

The win ended a 3-game losing streak and keeps them in contention for the number 2 seed out West. Klay and Draymond are expected back tonight, that’ll be a big confidence boost for the rest of the squad as they mostly consist of younger and less experienced players. Jordan Poole played a big role in the win over Miami with 30 points, he has been instrumental in his role ever since Curry went down. Golden State is 13-7 SU in their last 20 vs East teams and they’ve beaten the Hawks in 15 of the last 19 meetings.

Question marks were raised around this Warriors team after that loss at Orlando, but they seem to have bounced back in a good way. With the addition of their 2 star players, plus a healthy Wiggins, I think they can pull off the upset on the road here. Go with the Warriors to cover.

Atlanta Hawks vs Golden State Warriors Predictions & Odds

Defensively the Hawks are in the bottom 10 over the past 3 games in points allowed with teams scoring 116.7 per game against them. They just got beat 122-101 by Detroit on the road, which is definitely not a good sign before facing a team as talented as the Warriors are scoring the ball. Golden State put up 118 on Miami with most of their starters out, the Heat are a top 3 defence in the NBA which says a lot.

The total has gone over in 6 of 7 road games for the Warriors and in 4 of their last 5 vs Southeast Division teams. Atlanta has been trending towards the under a bit lately, but their last 8 of 11 games played on a Friday have all gone over the total.

Add to that their home record of 21-16 on the O/U this season, I think we could be in for a high scoring outcome here. Two of the last three meetings have gone over the total and an average of 233.3 points per game were scored in those games which are more than 10 points compared to tonight’s projected total. Let’s back the points here.
