Philadelphia 76ers vs Atlanta Hawks betting tips and predictions for Friday’s NBA game on ESPN. It’s a re-match of last season’s Eastern Conference semi-finals between the Philadelphia 76ers and Atlanta Hawks. Read on for all our free predictions and betting tips.
Joel Embiid came back after a long layoff due to covid-19 and dropped 42 points on the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, in his next two games he shot a combined 7-for-33 from the field against Orlando and Boston. It’s pretty obvious that he will require some time to get his footing back under him, the Sixers are 1-2 since his return and they’ve embarked on a 4-game road trip which started with a 88-87 defeat at Boston. Seth Curry led the Sixers with 17 points, however the entire team struggled and shot the ball just 37% from the field. Philadelphia is only 4-8 ATS in their last 12 games and on the road against Atlanta they’ve covered the spread just twice in their last 9 visits.
Hawks are currently one of the more in-form teams we have in the NBA, they’ve won 8 of their last 9 games and have covered the spread 7 times in their last 9 outings. They love playing against Eastern Conference teams, in their last 6 games they are 5-1 ATS. They are coming off a rare away win at Indiana in which Trae Young lit up the boxscore with 33 points and 10 assists. He also got a lot of help from Kevin Huerter who had 19 and filled in for the absent Bogdan Bogdanovic. Bogey is questionable for tonight as well with an ankle injury. One more player the Hawks could be without is Cam Reddish who has a wrist issue and is also questionable. Even without those two though, Atlanta is the favorite at home where they’ve won 8 of 10 games this season.
The Sixers are the better team in the last 10 meetings, but with Embiid still struggling I’m not sure they have what it takes to get the win here. Young has been on fire and Atlanta is one of the most dominant home teams in the NBA. Give me the Hawks to cover.
Atlanta Hawks – Philadelphia 76ers Predictions & Odds
Atlanta -1.5 Point Spread is available at -110 odds on bet365
These two teams just love low scoring games when they face each other. In total 7 of their last 10 meetings have finished under the total, including the 3 most recent ones. In those games they’ve averaged just 206 points per game which is almost 8 points under tonight’s total set by the oddsmakers. Joel Embiid is averaging only 14.5 points over his last two games, he is the focal point of the Sixers offense. As a team the Sixers are averaging just 102.7 points over their last 3 games and are coming off a modest 87 point night effort vs Boston. Atlanta does a fantastic job on defense at home this season, they rank 7th in the NBA in opponent points per game holding teams to an average of just 103.3 points at the State Farm Arena. With Philadelphia playing the slowest pace in the NBA and the Hawks ranking 18th in that department, I think we could see a lot of possessions slowing down which should result in less shots taken and ultimately less points scored. I’d recommend backing the under in this one.
