Utah Jazz vs. Miami Heat Prediction, Preview, and Odds

Utah Jazz vs Miami Heat betting tips and predictions for Saturday’s NBA TV clash. Two of the best teams the West and East have to offer collide in South Beach as the Heat host the Jazz. Read on for all our free predictions and betting tips.

With a 7-1 record nobody seems to be able to stop the Utah Jazz. They are coming off an impressive 116-98 win over the Atlanta Hawks in which they were without their best player Donovan Mitchell. It was Jordan Clarkson who stepped up in his absence and dropped a cool 30 points, it is unknown if Mitchell will suit up tonight as he’s still recovering from an ankle sprain. Utah plays a solid style of basketball year in and out, they currently have five different players averaging more than 15 points per game.

Miami is also off to a hot start with 6 wins in 8 games, but unlike the Jazz they are coming off their worst loss of the season. The Boston Celtics of all teams demolished them 95-78 as the heat shot just 35% in that game and went 9-for-41 from distance. The bad news don’t stop there either, Kyle Lowry also left that game with an ankle injury in the 3rd quarter and is questionable for tonight’s game as well. Miami had 4 instances of 2+ minutes without a field goal in that game against Boston, could it be that they have issues offensively? Jimmy Butler is one guy having zero issues on that end, he is averaging 24.4 points per game to go along with 6.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists.

One bad apple doesn’t spoil the whole bunch, right? I think that’s the case with Miami. They’ve been dominant so far in almost every game they’ve played, the loss to Boston was a fluke in my opinion and I think they bounce back tonight. They’ve had a really good record against Utah in home games and that should continue tonight.

These two teams play somewhat different styles. Miami ranks 29th in pace averaging just 94.6 possessions per game, while the Jazz are 11th on that list. Looking at their offensive and defensive stats they both rank among the elite, however with both of them missing key players I’m not ready to jump the gun on points here.

The total has gone under in 4 of the last 6 meetings with an average of just 204.8 points per game over their last 10 head-to-head. Normally when two elite teams like this play each other early in the season they tend to cancel each other out, I think that’s exactly the case here so look for a slower paced tempo and a ton of great defensive plays primarily from Rudy Gobert. Let’s back the under in this one.
