Atlanta Hawks – Brooklyn Nets Predictions & Odds

Brooklyn Nets vs Atlanta Hawks betting tips and predictions for Friday’s NBA on ESPN game. It’s a big showdown in the Eastern Conference tonight as the Atlanta Hawks host the Brooklyn Nets at the State Farm Arena. Read on for all our free predictions and betting tips.

Brooklyn Nets

Brooklyn NetsFor only the 3rd time this season the Brooklyn Nets will enter a game as the underdogs, even though they are 7 spots above their opponent in the Eastern Conference standings. Kevin Durant decided to take the night off against the Houston Rockets and Brooklyn lost by 10 points on the road. James Harden had 25 points, 11 boards and 8 assists, but his shooting was once again a problem as he finished the night going just 4-for-16 from the and 3-for-12 from three-point land. Durant should be back tonight, that adds a completely different dynamic to this whole encounter, so I’m not really sure why the oddsmakers favor the Hawks here. The Nets have beaten Atlanta 11 times in the last 13 meetings and they are also 6-1 SU in the last 7 on the road in Atlanta.

Atlanta Hawks

Atlanta HawksThe Hawks had a surge to end November by winning 7 games in a row, but they’ve cooled off a bit since then winning just 2 of their last 5 outings. Trae Young led the way with 29 points and 11 rebounds in the 11 point win at Minnesota the other night, but now the Hawks return home where they are 8-4 this season. They’ll once again be shorthanded with Bogdan Bogdanovic being out with an ankle injury. Solomon Hill will miss the entire season with a hamstring injury and Deandre Hunter is out indefinitely with a wrist injury. Cam Reddish could return to the line-up, it would be a much needed boost for this depleted Atlanta roster. Despite winning 8 of 12 at home, the Hawks are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 at the State Farm Arena.

Kevin Durant makes all the difference here, Brooklyn has won 14 of their last 19 games and their form in head-to-head meetings vs the Hawks is just too good to be ignored. I’m going with the Nets to cover vs a injury riddled Hawks side.

Brooklyn actually beat Atlanta 117-108 earlier this season and the line has been set at a similar total for tonight’s game at 223.5 points. Atlanta has a ton of injuries right now, but that hasn’t stopped their games from being high scoring lately. In 3 of their last 4 we’ve seen 225 or more points scored and the over has cashed in 6 of their last 8 overall. We see a similar trend happening in Brooklyn games against teams from the Eastern Conference where the last 6 of 7 games have all gone over the total. One thing in particular impresses me when I watch the Hawks and that is their three-point shooting. Over their last 4 games they are averaging 17 made threes on 47% shooting as a team. Brooklyn is also really good from three point land, especially on the road where they average 39.2% made shots, ranking 2nd in the NBA. All in all I’m expecting a ton of points here, so let’s back the over.
