San Antonio Spurs

San Antonio SpursAfter 6 losses in a row, the San Antonio Spurs have bounced back well with two wins over the Boston Celtics and Washington Wizards. This is their first 2-game win streak of the season as this young squad continues to develop under the leadership of Gregg Popovich. In their latest win over the Wizards at home the Spurs shot 53% from the field and held Washington to just 29% shooting from three to seal the win. It was only their 6th win of the season and they are outside of the play-in tournament in the West as things stand. Tonight they are going up against a team that’s beaten them 4 times in the last 5 meetings. Spurs fans will be worried with their team’s away form, they’ve won just twice in the last 13 road games and have covered the spread just once in 5 games vs Western Conference opponents.

Portland Trail Blazers

Portland Trail BlazersPortland also has it’s fair share of issues on the road, but tonight they are playing at the Moda Center where they’ve been dominant this season with 10 wins in 11 games. Their latest victim were the Detroit Pistons who they beat easily 110-92 on Tuesday. Damian Lillard didn’t play, so it was up to C.J. McCollum to step up and he delivered with 28 points. Portland will have to do without Lillard for a while, he has had a lingering abdominal injury and it appears he will miss an extended period of time and let it heal. One more player that’s questionable tonight is Norman Powell who has a quad issue. Even without those two the Blazers are favorites in this one as they’ve won 10 in a row at home and are 8-3 ATS in 11 games at Moda Center.

Blazers at home and Blazers on the road are two completely different teams. It took the Spurs almost 2 months to get their first 2-game win streak of the season, that sums it up just how bad they are right now. I’m backing Portland to win their 11th in a row at home.

Portland Trail Blazers – San Antonio Spurs Predictions

Blazers -3.5 Point Spread is available at -110 odds on bet365

We could be in for a low scoring game here. The Blazers defense allows just 103.3 points per game at home this season, which is the 6th best mark in the entire NBA. San Antonio ranks just outside the Top 10 in points allowed on the road this season and in their last 3 games they are holding opponents to just 103.7 per game. In their 9 road games this season the under has landed 7 times. It’s also worth pointing out that their last 6 of 7 games vs teams from the Northwest Division have also gone under the total. With Portland missing their leading scorer Lillard, I think they won’t go overboard with their scoring here. The Blazers play only at the 17th fastest pace this season, they will try to slow things down and beat the Spurs on the defensive end. So let’s back the under here.
